Explore the incredible Lençóis Maranhenses on the 65 km trek, starting in Atins (MA) and ending at the famous Lagoa do Junco. Our trek is not a race and everyone is welcome, as long as they have a minimum level of fitness and are not completely sedentary. We accept women and men alike, including teenagers from 15 years old accompanied by a responsible adult. The pace of the trek is set by the last person in the group, so that nobody is left behind. During the journey there will be no communication, no Wi-Fi, no mobile signal and so on. It is important that all participants follow the information given by the coordinators to avoid misinformation.

Schedule:

Day 1: everyone must arrive in Barreirinhas by 12:00, as we will have a few hours for last-minute shopping (food, etc.). At 15:00 we leave Barreirinhas for Atins by speedboat, a journey of about 2 hours, during which we cruise along the Rio Preguiça until we arrive. At 18:00 we check into the pousada (guesthouse) in Atins.

Day 2: after breakfast we start the trek by car, covering 23 km to Rio Negro, Bomzinho, a drive of about 1 hour and 30 minutes in a 4×4 vehicle. We then begin the walk to Baixa Grande, expecting to arrive at 12:00. We stay in Baixa Grande until the next day.

Day 3: departure from Baixa Grande at 6:00 towards Queimada dos Britos, expecting to arrive at 12:00. We leave Queimada dos Britos at 16:00 towards the dunes, stopping at 18:00 to watch the sunset and the moonrise. We walk for another 2 or 3 hours and sleep in the dunes.

Day 4: we wake at 4:00 and head for Lagoa do Junco, expecting to arrive at 10:00. At 12:00 we set off in a 4×4 vehicle (with stops at 2 lagoons for a swim) to Barreirinhas, a drive of 3 hours. Estimated arrival in Barreirinhas is 16:00. The cost of the 4×4 vehicle from Lagoa do Junco to Barreirinhas is split between all trek participants. In Barreirinhas each member chooses their own hotel accommodation, and we show you a little of the town center.

Day 5: each member returns to their place of origin.

The price of the trek is R$ 1.500,00 per person and includes:

– 2 long-sleeve UV shirts

– 1 balaclava

– 2 packs of Clorin water purification tablets

– Powdered isotonic drink

– 10 cereal bars

– 6 Carb Up gels

The speedboat is included (from Barreirinhas to Atins), as is accommodation in shared rooms (4 people) in Atins, with breakfast. If you would like a private room for a couple, please let us know in advance so we can check availability and the price difference.

The transport at the end of the trek is split between everyone in each car. It is approximately 120 km of road, taking 3 hours to Barreirinhas.

IMPORTANT: expenses at the hammock shelters/oases are each member's own responsibility. Everyone pays their own costs (soft drinks, beer, food, coffee, lunch, dinner, etc.), averaging R$ 75,00 per meal. The food is excellent!

We will create a WhatsApp group where information, doubts and questions from all participants are shared.

Members coming from elsewhere should travel to São Luís (MA) and take public transport (the local "tópico" van) leaving from the airport, the bus station or a hotel in São Luís, a trip of 4 hours. The cost of the transport to Barreirinhas is not included in the package. You do, however, need to arrive in Barreirinhas by 12:00 on the set day.

We give priority to full moon dates; it is even more beautiful at the camps.
